Position Title: Superintendent/Principal

Closing Date for Applications: February 7, 2014

Employment Begins: July 1, 2014

Perrydale School District is seeking an education leader to serve as superintendent of schools and school principal starting July 1, 2014. The successful candidate will have skills in leadership, communication, and building relationships with staff and community, while understanding the challenges of a small rural school district.

Perrydale School is located south of Amity, in the town of Perrydale. The school is “the heart” of the community. Its four-day school week, and kindergarten through 12th grade classes make it a very unique school. Student population at Perrydale averages 320 students: 93 at the high school level, 80 at the middle school level, and 147 at the elementary level. However, the District functions as one school by design. Perrydale’s student population comes from several school districts and counties. Students residing out of the Perrydale District come in at high numbers seeking a quality school program with maximum personal attention in a small school that consistently earns recognition as a school of excellence. Out-of-district students average 56% of the Perrydale School District population.

Perrydale is an unincorporated community of about 600 people in Polk County, Oregon, approximately 10 miles from Dallas and 15 miles from Salem. The area is rural and pastoral, with close proximity to vineyards, a wildlife refuge, the state’s Capitol, and only 50 miles from the Oregon coast. Theater and shopping are close by in Salem, without the daily congestion of city life.
