About the District:            

The Peninsula School District is comprised of fifteen schools and a total of approximately 8,200 students.

  • Gig Harbor, Henderson Bay, and Peninsula High Schools
  • Harbor Ridge, Key Peninsula, Goodman, and Kopachuck Middle Schools
  • Eight Elementary Schools

The district leadership team is creative, caring, and thoughtful as they work with staff and community to develop and provide unique programs and services—mentor teacher program for new teachers; in-district professional certification program; administrator internship program; instructional technology support for all teachers; staff development opportunities; professional development days; National Board Certification support. The district covers a 120-square mile area spanning the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsulas of south Puget Sound. It is one of the most innovative districts in Washington State. Known for its strong core curriculum, the district also offers creative programs for the unique learning needs of each student.

About the Community:

The Peninsula School District is the main school district for the city of Gig Harbor, Washington, and the unincorporated areas around Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula. These areas include  Artondale, Arletta, Rosedale, Purdy, Wollochet, Vaughn, Lakebay, Longbranch, Home, Wauna, Crescent Valley, and the Kopachuck area. Geographically, the district is located across Puget Sound from the Seattle/Tacoma area and covers a 120 square-mile area on two peninsulas.
