Monroe School District is seeking an education leader to serve as superintendent of schools starting July 1, 2014. The successful candidate will have successful experience as an educational leader and administrator, strong decision making and problem solving abilities, an understanding of school finance and sound fiscal management skills, and an ability to lead the district in visionary planning.

Monroe School District is located in Monroe, Oregon, nestled against the foothills of the Coast Range mountains, facing the Willamette Valley. Corvallis (home of Oregon State University) is 17 miles to the north, and the city of Eugene (home of University of Oregon) is 23 miles to the south. The district has a family-type atmosphere, is fiscally sound, and enjoys the strong support of its close-knit community. Class sizes are small and teachers and staff are high quality and committed to serving all students. In 2010, the district received the US News & World Report Silver Award for Best High Schools and the Bronze Award for 2013.

Monroe is situated in Benton County, well known for its focus on families, economy, and the environment. The area hosts natural beauty and opportunities for fishing, hunting, cycling, snow sports, river sports, tennis, and golf. Nearby attractions include Alsea Falls, Mary’s Peak, a national wildlife refuge, an arboretum, art galleries, community festivals, summer open air concerts, covered bridges, historic buildings, and wineries.
