School Board Recognition Month: Model community college proclamation
The president or community college's public information officer should ask your city's mayor or manager, your city council, the Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and/or the county commissioners to proclaim January as School Board Recognition Month in your community. Publicize this action with a press release and in your community college's newsletter.
Proclamation
WHEREAS, community college boards create a vision for what students should know and be able to do;
WHEREAS, community college boards make decisions that affect countless young people and their future;
WHEREAS, community college boards contribute to the economic well-being of their communities and our state;
WHEREAS, community college boards selflessly volunteer their time to ensure student success;
WHEREAS, community college boards create a climate that supports the philosophy that all students can learn at high levels;
WHEREAS, community college boards build collaborative relationships based on trust, teamwork and shared accountability; and
WHEREAS, community college boards are committed to preparing students for further education and their careers;
NOW, THEREFORE, (I/We), hereby declare (my/our) appreciation to the members of the (community college name) Board of Directors and proclaim the month of January to be School Board Recognition Month.
(I/We) urge all citizens to join (me/us) in recognizing the dedication and hard work of local community college board members in preparing today's students for tomorrow's world.
