Sample invitation for senior citizens to Back to School Week

Involving senior citizens in your schools is important. Use this sample letter to invite them to Back to School Week.

Daily City, OR

Dear Ms. Gilbert,

The staff and students at City Elementary School cordially invite our neighbors at Mt. Hood Living Center to spend a morning with our students during "Back to School Week," April 30-May 4.

Many of our students do not live near their grandparents and would welcome the attention of an elder. Likewise, many of your residents may not have been back to a school classroom in years. We think this is a great opportunity to get to know each other!

We would be happy to arrange bus transportation from Mt. Hood Center to our school and provide lunch or refreshments. The students will be our hosts, and our teachers are excited about sharing their classroom successes and challenges.

I am looking forward to hearing from you and hope that a "Back to School Week" visit will fit into your schedule.

Sincerely,

Mary Schroeder
Principal
