As a Policy Plus subscriber, approximately two weeks after each Policy Update publication, a .zip file with “Policy Updates” enclosed will be emailed to the district's policy update subscriber. Included in that .zip file are current board policies with updates applied and new or existing sample policies the board does not currently have adopted that were released in the current Policy Update. Recommended new board policies will be identified with a Proposed watermark and will be designated as either “required,” “highly recommended” or “optional” in the Policy Update summary document.
The district will then review the summary for instruction on how to process the updated or “new” policies.
Some of the policies CANNOT be adopted in their current formats. The district must make a choice for all text in brackets and/or any highlighted and strikeout text, if applicable. The district may print these policies but should present them to the school board for discussion, any modifications and final adoption.
When the packet of updated and/or new policies have been adopted by the board, email them the OSBA Policy Services assistant assigned to your account, still reflecting strikeout and highlight and include other additional district edits and selections noted; also include the new adoption date. If the board has adopted the recommended edits or recommended new policies with no changes, a list of the adopted policies may be provided with the new adoption date. Any policy not included in the list that was “Proposed” will be considered “unadopted” and not part of the adoption packet.
Following receipt of the board’s adoption information, the changes will be added to the board’s electronic policy manual that is managed by OSBA, posted online (if applicable), and updated policy files in Word with an updated Table of Contents (if applicable) will be emailed back and, as agreed standard practice, two hard copies may be mailed for the board’s policy books retained by district administration.
During the last quarter of the contract period, subscribers will receive the option of requesting a desk rewrite through OSBA for the reduced price of $500.
