Although the charter school board meeting dates are posted on the school calendar and anyone can request a packet of materials that will be used at the school board meeting, do the agenda and the minutes need to actually be posted where the public can read them?
Charter school boards follow the same public meeting and public records laws that other public schools follow. Oregon laws do not require that agendas or minutes be posted. A notice of the meeting needs to be posted before the meeting and it needs to list the subjects expected to be discussed, but it does not have to be the agenda. Also, while the agenda may be posted by the district, it is legal for the agenda to be amended during the meeting. Public records laws provide a process for you to request to review or receive copies of minutes and agendas. If you decide you want a copy of either of those, the district may charge you the cost of making copies, and for the time required to make the copies. There should not be any charge for going into the office and viewing the minutes and agendas.
