What is the posting requirement for the first budget committee meeting and how is it different than the notice requirements for regular board meetings?
The posting requirement for the first budget committee meeting and for the board hearing on the committee approved budget, are similar but require more notice than a regular board meeting. The notice must include purpose, time and place of the meeting. The law requires the notice to be published in a newspaper, by mailing, or hand delivery. When published in a newspaper, it must be published twice, separated by at least five days. The first publication cannot be any earlier than 30 days before the first meeting date and the second publication cannot be later than five days before the first meeting date. When the notice is published by mail or hand delivery, it must be given to the United States Postal Service or hand delivered no later than 10 days prior to the first meeting date.
Any budget committee meetings held after the first meeting, can be posted the same way the district would post a regular board meeting.
