Position: Director of Employee and Labor Relations

Primary Function:

The Employee and Labor Relations Director, in support of the district Superintendent and Executive Director of Human Resources, develops and implements employee and labor management practices which contribute to a fair, respectful, diverse, and performance-focused organizational culture.

 

Employee and Labor Relations Director

The Employee and Labor Relations Director, an integral part of the HR department, manages employee and labor-management relations that contribute to a fair, respectful, diverse, and high-performance culture.

 

We are seeking an Employee and Labor Relations Director with a focus on the district’s labor relations program and ability to lead HR staff. Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Employee and Labor Relations Director is one of three HR director positions, working closely with the Director of Staffing and Strategic Initiatives, the Director of Recruitment and Staffing, and the Executive Director. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a collective bargaining strategy and managing all activities associated with negotiations, including the design, implementation, administration, and application of the collective bargaining agreements, policies, and procedures. This position serves as the lead negotiator and the primary point of contact for the district’s day-to-day technical expertise regarding such agreements. Additionally, this position provides advice, counsel, and training to HR managers, school and district managers, employees, and other members of the Salem-Keizer community in employee and labor relation matters.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, labor law, organizational behavior or other related field and seven years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

 

Start Date: June 1, 2019

 

Compensation:

  • 12-month
  • $104,400 - $132,100 (Salary based on the 2018-19 salary schedule)
