Notice of Open Administrative Position

Position: Superintendent

The Glendale School District, Glendale, Oregon, Board of education, is seeking a highly qualified superintendent.  The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2022.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Enrollment: 280

Location: 225 miles south of Portland

The Qualifications

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The School Board is seeking a candidate who:

  • Is a visionary leader capable of creating an environment of high expectations for student achievement and quality instruction with accountability for students and staff based on clear and concise goals. 
  • Has strong and ethical budgeting and fiscal skills which includes having the skills and knowledge of bond work and able to seek out and secure grants for the district.
  • Is a visible, available and approachable presence in the schools spending time in classrooms and in the community, enjoys being around people in the community.
  • Knows their strengths and weaknesses and able to communicate what they are, along with being accountable for them, as well as taking responsibility of their actions
  • Embraces rural lifestyle supporting programs such as FFA, Drama, and sports to ensure students are positively engaged as well as a breadth of academic programs.
  • Is a humble-reflective leader who listens, collaborates and builds on the passion of the staff, students, parents and community and has the confidence to build an effective / efficient system that keeps the focus on students.  
  • Is a life-long learner who thrives on continuous improvement and a fearless leader willing to face hard conversations while supporting the vision of the school system.

Requirements

  • Three years administrative experience is desired

Search Timeline

  • Closing date for applications: April 25, 2022 (11:30 p.m. central time)
  • Board of education selects finalists to interview: May 4, 2022
  • Finalists Interviews with the Board of education: May 9-16, 2022
  • Selection of new Superintendent: May 18, 2022
  • Start date: July 1, 2022
