Monday

10:30 a.m.: The Senate will convene to vote on:

  • Authorizing school districts to use public funds for out-of-state placement of students only if specified criteria are satisfied (SB 574 A).

11 a.m.: The House will convene to vote on:

  • Declaring children who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind have the same rights and potential as children who are not (HB 2669). 
  • Expanding the list of individuals whose histories, contributions and perspectives are required to be included in social studies academic content standards and in related textbooks and instructional materials (HB 2905). 

3 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Requiring panic alarms in schools (HB 3101). 
  • Increasing State Board of Education membership to include an additional congressional district representative and a member engaged as a classified public education staff member (HB 3383). 

3 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Enacting the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact (SB 279 A). 

3 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • Early literacy.

Tuesday

8 a.m.: The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • The State School Fund (HB 5015).
  • The Oregon Department of Education (HB 5014). 

3 p.m.: The House Higher Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Requiring the Higher Education Coordinating Commission to study how best to fund public pre-kindergarten through post-secondary education in Oregon (HB 2262). 
  • Specifying that "early childhood care and education" includes early childhood behavioral and mental health services for purposes of scholarships and grants awarded to ensure Oregon has an adequate supply of early childhood care and education professionals (HB 3561). 

3 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing:

  • Implementing a statewide education plan for students who are eligible for special education and who have experienced disproportionate results in education due to historical practices (SB 575). 
  • Requiring school districts to designate a person's school or program of enrollment (SB 923). 
  • Setting timelines and redacting requirements for records related to special education provisions (SB 758). 
  • Requiring the Higher Education Coordinating Commission to work with community colleges to establish post-secondary programs for youths with intellectual and developmental disabilities (SB 572). 
  • Setting requirements for information recorded on student transcripts, including types of credits earned by students (SB 992). 

Wednesday

8 a.m.: The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • The State School Fund (HB 5015).
  • The Oregon Department of Education (HB 5014). 

3 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Establishing the Universal School Meal Account to reimburse school districts for costs incurred in providing federally reimbursable meals (HB 3030). 
  • Reviewing physical education requirements for certain students in grades six through eight (HB 3199). 
  • Preserving additional funding for small school districts that merge with one or more school districts (HB 3135). 

3 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Adopting uniform standards for school data collection (HB 3288). 
  • Adopting rules for reimbursing school district expenses incurred in lieu of transporting students (HB 3014). 
  • Enacting the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact (SB 279 A). 

Thursday

8 a.m.: The Joint Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • The State School Fund (HB 5015).
  • The Oregon Department of Education (HB 5014). 

3 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Allowing course work in aviation maintenance occurring at an airport in a neighboring state to be included in clock hours of instruction for purposes of the Community College Support Fund (SB 482).
  • Eliminating restrictions on the payment of unemployment insurance benefits to certain nonprofessional educational workers (SB 489). 
  • Directing the Oregon Health Authority to modify grant amounts for school-based health centers for inflation (SB 549). 
  • Requiring the Oregon Department of Education to identify improved processes for transferring high school credits earned by students outside the United States (SB 940). 

3 p.m.: The Senate Rules Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Making the first full week in March Classified School Employees Week (HB 2708). 

Friday

Bills in policy committees must be posted on an agenda for a work session by this day.
