Tuesday
2022 legislative session begins.

1 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • Authorizing school boards to terminate superintendents without cause only if certain conditions are met (SB 1521).
  • Authorizing high school teachers who are employed by education service districts to serve as members of the Transfer Council (SB 1522).  

1 p.m.: The Senate Natural Resources and Wildlife Committee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • Establishing the Elliott State Research Forest (SB 1546).  

3:15 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Requiring school board training (HB 4029). 
  • Establishing a state goal that the percentage of diverse employees employed by the Oregon Department of Education reflects the percentage of diverse students in public schools (HB 4031). 
  • Appropriating money for the Educator Advancement Council to provide professional learning opportunities related to ethnic studies standards (HB 4112). 

3:15 p.m.: The House Revenue Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Awarding grants to wildfire-impacted school districts (HB 4026). 

Wednesday

8:45 a.m.: The Senate Finance and Revenue Committee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • Studying the impacts of the 2020 wildfires on State School Fund distributions (SB 1523). 

Thursday

1 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Establishing a pilot program to provide funding to school districts to increase homeless students’ access to schools and academic achievement (SB 1539). 
  • Authorizing school boards to terminate superintendents without cause only if certain conditions are met (SB 1521). 
  • Authorizing high school teachers who are employed by education service districts to serve as members of the Transfer Council (SB 1522).   

1 p.m.: The Senate Natural Resources and Wildlife Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Establishing the Elliott State Research Forest (SB 1546). 

3:15 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Establishing the Racial Equity and Justice Youth Collaborative (HB 4099). 
  • Requiring the Oregon Department of Education to survey student assessments and to develop recommendations (HB 4124). 
  • Directing the Oregon Department of Education to develop and implement a statewide education plan for students who are Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander (HB 4091). 

Friday

3:15 p.m.: The House Revenue Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Awarding grants to wildfire-impacted school districts (HB 4026).
