Monday

10:30 a.m.: The Senate is scheduled to vote on:

  • Expanding high school diploma requirements related to completion of credits in English to allow completion of credits in language arts (HB 2056A). 

11 a.m.: The House is scheduled to vote on:

  • Requiring students to complete at least one-half credit of civics to receive a high school diploma (SB 513A). 
  • Altering the composition of the Higher Education Coordinating Committee (SB 712). 
  • Updating terminology and funding provisions related to special education programs (SB 53A).  

3:15 p.m.: The House Business and Labor Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Amending the definition of "employment relations" to include class size and caseload limits as mandatory collective bargaining subjects for school districts (SB 580). 

Tuesday

The Senate is scheduled to vote on:

  • The State School Fund bill (SB 5514A). 

11 a.m.: The House is scheduled to vote on:

  • Permitting community colleges to allow criminal justice courses to be eligible for the social science cluster portion of an associate degree (SB 416A).

1 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a possible work session on:

  • Modifying the definitions of "sexual conduct" for education providers related to abuse of and sexual conduct toward students (SB 242). 
  • Removing the sunset on the requirement that students must receive certain information related to statewide summative assessments (SB 601). 
  • Directing the State Board of Education to review social studies standards (SB 702B). 
  • Modifying the report requirements of the Educators Equity Act (SB 232A). 

1 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Requiring school districts to establish educational equity advisory committees (SB 732A). 
  • Requiring school districts to adopt policies concerning ownership rights to teacher-created intellectual property (SB 667A). 
  • Reviewing state requirements for high school diplomas (SB 744A).

1 p.m.: The House Revenue Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Providing that, for five school years, calculations of weighted average daily membership may not be decreased for school districts impacted by wildfires in 2020 (HB 2630).

Wednesday

3:15 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Requiring school districts to provide instruction on organ and tissue donation and education (HB 3234A). 
  • Allowing public charter schools to implement weighted lotteries that favor historically underserved students (HB 2954). 
  • Prohibiting the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission from issuing licenses or registrations to people convicted of domestic violence (HB 2135). 

3:15 p.m.: The Senate Education Committee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • Oregon Kids READ

Thursday

1 p.m.: The House Education Committee will hold a possible work session on:

  • Requiring school districts to establish educational equity advisory committees (SB 732A). 
  • Requiring school districts to adopt policies concerning ownership rights to teacher-created intellectual property (SB 667A). 
  • Reviewing state requirements for high school diplomas (SB 744A).
