The Legislative Days originally scheduled for early May have been rescheduled for May 22 through June 5.
To accommodate social distancing requirements, the meetings will be held online. Each committee hearing will be streamed on the Oregon Legislative Information System (OLIS). Access is available through the Legislative Committee webpages, and the education committees may be accessed through the Senate Education Committee link and House Education Committee link. Once on the committee page, click on the appropriate meeting time listed in the right column, under “Meetings.” Access to previous sessions is provided in the same list. Additionally, a viewing station will be available on the Capitol Building’s front steps.
Legislative Days are a part of the legislative process. They are scheduled approximately every eight weeks during the time between sessions and typically last four days. During Legislative Days, committees may hold informational hearings on topics that could lead to legislation in upcoming sessions, hear updates on implementations of past legislation, hear reports from state agencies and task forces, and keep current on subject areas that affect Oregonians.
These are excellent opportunities to experience Oregon’s Legislature in action and learn about upcoming legislation.
