Monday

1 p.m. The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Discounting money saved for higher education from assessment of financial assistance benefits (SB 1554).
  • Requiring passage of civics test for high school diploma (SB 1513).
  • Establishing rights of college students called to active duty (SB 1557).
  • Allowing grace period for all new teacher licensees (SB 1520).
  • Extending open enrollment (SB 1521).
  • Modifying school district requirements for special education students (SB 1522).
  • Removing requirement that students who are not citizens must apply for federal identification documents to be eligible for resident tuition rates (SB 1563).

 1 p.m. The House Business and Labor Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Changes to the Public Employees Retirement System (HB 4046, HB 4112, HB 4115, HB 4122, HB 4159).

 1 p.m. The House Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Requiring information to be shared with students or staff members following an investigation related to sexual harassment (HB 4150).

1 p.m. The Senate Health Care Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Expanding the list of health care professionals who can clear a youth athlete suspected of having had a concussion (SB 1547).

1 p.m. The House Business and Labor Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Including class size as a mandatory subject for collective bargaining (HB 4113).

3 p.m. The House Education Committee will hold an organizational meeting and a public hearing and work session on:

  • Requiring school districts to allow homeschooled students and public charter school students to participate in interscholastic activities (HB 4036).
  • Establishing a task force on rural education (HB 4051).
  • Providing that the deputy state treasurer or deputy secretary of state may serve on the State Board of Education (HB 4013).
  • Directing the Chief Education Office to study development of educators serving students who could be at risk for experiencing achievement gap (HB 4044).
  • Directing the Oregon Department of Education to study school dropouts (HB 4102).
  • Directing education providers to provide personnel records to prospective education employers (HB 4119)

Tuesday

8:30 a.m. The Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • Staffing needs for the Office of Child Care in the Early Learning Division of the Oregon Department of Education.

10 a.m. The Oregon State Land Board will meet. Agenda items include the Oregon Department of Forestry report on Common School Fund forest lands and an update on the Elliott State Forest.

3 p.m. The Senate Workforce Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Establishing an Employer Incentive Fund for the Public Employees Retirement System (SB 1566).

3 p.m. The House Higher Education and Workforce Development Committee will hold a work session on:

  • Requiring an annual report on accelerated college credit programs (HB 4053).

Wednesday

1 p.m. The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on:

  • Establishing a task force on public education planning (SB 1530).

Thursday

This is the last day for policy committees to move bills that originated in their chamber.

8:30 a.m. The Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold a work session on:

  • The implementation of educator advancement (SB 182, 2017)

8:30 a.m. The Ways and Means Education Subcommittee will hold an informational meeting on:

  • The implementation of the Outdoor School.

3 p.m. The Senate Workforce Committee will hold a public hearing and possible work session on:

  • Establishing an Employer Incentive Fund for the Public Employees Retirement System (SB 1566).

Friday

Release of the quarterly Oregon Revenue Forecast.
