School Board Recognition Month will honor passion, dedication
Tuesday, December 26, 2017
Oregon celebrates School Board Recognition Month in January. School board members work hard supporting student achievement, and the annual declaration offers communities a way to say thank you.
OSBA has created a planning kit to honor “School Board Superheroes.” The webpage includes the official proclamation signed by the governor, appreciation certificates, proclamations for use by local leaders and model news releases.
School board members provide the local vision for districts. OSBA encourages districts, local officials and communities to offer handmade and heartfelt expressions of praise and gratitude. State ethics guidelines suggest gifts should be valued under $50, but for volunteer school board members, personal notes and keepsakes can be the most valuable rewards.
