School board members to lead educational equity discussion

Oregon school board members are leading a community discussion Thursday, June 30, in Bend about systemic change to address educational inequities.
The OSBA Oregon School Board Members of Color Caucus is sponsoring the Bend-La Pine Diwanya, and caucus President Sami Al-Abdrabbuh will facilitate. Bend-La Pine School Board members Janet Sarai Llerandi Gonzalez and Shimiko Montgomery are among the hosts.
Diwanya (or diwaniya) is a Middle Eastern term for a gathering or place where important issues can be discussed. The meeting will focus on community building and answering the question: “What should the future of education look like and what is missing in our schools and community colleges?”
