OSBA Board appoints new member, fills committee position

Monday, April 11, 2022

Dayton School Board member Jeffrey Crapper was appointed to the OSBA Board on Monday, April 11.

The OSBA Board held a special meeting to fill the Yamhill/Polk Region Position 13 formerly held by Newberg School Board member Brandy Penner. Penner resigned to focus more on local issues.

Crapper has been an educator for 20 years and has been on his local board for three years. He considers the political divide in Oregon and the need for stable school funding as the two most challenging issues facing OSBA, according to his application.

The OSBA Board also appointed David Douglas School Board member Aaron Barrow to OSBA’s Legislative Policy Committee. He will take Multnomah Region Position 19, replacing Centennial School Board member Heath Curry. He resigned from his local school board, and committee members must be current board members.

Barrow has been a board member for two years and works with veterans in the mental health field. In his application, he named school funding and handling COVID-19 safety measures as key legislative issues facing OSBA.

The OSBA Board made the appointments to ensure regions would be fully represented for the April 22-23 Legislative Policy Committee meeting in Eugene. Committee members help develop OSBA’s legislative approach as well as act as important connections between Salem and their communities.
