As students head back to school, the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon Health Authority want to maximize in-person learning.
“We know that in-person instruction, delivered safely, provides our children and families with the greatest access to an equitable education,” ODE Director Colt Gill said in an email.
Families are encouraged to vaccinate all eligible household members, wear facial coverings in public and limit social gatherings and/or move them outdoors to minimize kids’ exposure to COVID-19.
Students who are exposed to someone with COVID-19 may be required to miss in-person school days. ODE has created a resource for families should their child need to isolate or quarantine.
