ODE reveals federal coronavirus emergency aid amounts for school districts
Friday, January 29, 2021
The Oregon Department of Education has calculated every school district’s share of the latest round of federal coronavirus emergency funds and created a spreadsheet. ODE will start sending the funds over the next month.
In early January, ODE was awarded $499 million for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund to help K-12 public schools with a wide range of coronavirus-related costs. At least 90% of the funds will be distributed according to the Title I funding formula. ODE has allocated minimum grants of $40,000 for districts that don’t qualify or would receive less than that.
The federal funding is an addition to the CARES Act funds awarded in the spring. Districts will not be required to submit new applications for the funds or to provide equitable services to nonpublic schools.
