OSBA convention registration deadline draws close

Monday, October 28, 2019

The OSBA convention registration deadline is Friday, Nov. 1.

More than 700 school board members, administrators and education stakeholders from around the state are expected to gather Nov. 14-17 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront hotel.

The 73rd Annual Convention will celebrate the Student Success Act’s historic infusion of $1 billion annually into preK-12 public education. The event will also offer OSBA’s usual slate of training, inspiration and sharing.

Registrants can pick from more than 50 workshops as well as enjoy speakers, student entertainment and networking opportunities. OSBA will debut a Promise of Oregon video showing the dedication and effort that went into passing the act.

The event includes three preconference workshops that require separate registration. In addition to the administrative professionals workshop and the Council of School Attorneys workshop, OSBA will deliver a daylong session on trauma-informed practices. The workshop will talk about the effects of childhood trauma and examine the board’s role in a whole-school, whole-community approach to helping students.

Registration by Nov. 1 helps with planning, but on-site registration is possible the day of the event.
