Workshops, student performers needed for OSBA’s Annual Conference
Tuesday, April 9, 2019
OSBA is seeking interesting workshops and diverse student entertainment for its 73rd Annual Convention.
The Nov. 14-17 convention in downtown Portland will offer dozens of sessions led by education experts, including school district staff. OSBA is looking for informative presentations that speak to the role of school board members and superintendents in improving Oregon education.
Key topics for the convention, themed “Ensuring the Promise of Oregon by Creating Lifelong Learners,” include culturally relevant and social-emotional learning, advocacy, trauma-informed practices, and addressing issues that increase student learning.
The convention also serves as a celebration of Oregon schools, and applications are open for student entertainment groups to add to the energy. Possible acts include bands, orchestras, musical numbers, dance groups or theater performers – particularly nontraditional acts and those that have cultural relevance.
Student performance proposals with an audition example will be accepted until June 7. Applications can be submitted by mail or online.
