The committee is working to create a plan to improve Oregon K-12 public education and to provide adequate funding. Members will hold listening sessions around the state to gather input and ideas for legislation in 2019. The approach is modeled on a special committee that successfully pushed a $5.3 billion transportation package in 2017.
The committee is planning a morning listening session with local students and an afternoon tour of regional education facilities. Committee members will have a roundtable discussion with regional education leaders from 4 to 6 p.m., and OSBA and the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators will be sending representatives.
The committee will hold a public hearing from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Sheldon High School auditorium. Testimony will be limited to two minutes per person, and sign-up sheets will be available at 6:30 p.m. Testimony for the record can also be submitted at email@example.com.
