OSBA representatives discussed pressing education issues with Oregon’s congressional delegation on Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
The meetings were the culmination of the National School Boards Association’s 2018 Advocacy Institute. Members of OSBA’s staff, Board of Directors and Legislative Policy Committee joined hundreds of education advocates from around the country for three days of workshops, symposiums and networking.
The OSBA delegation covered issues ranging from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act to the role of trauma-informed care practices and equity in schools.
Officers for the OSBA Board of Directors said their time with Oregon’s representatives and senators was productive.
“All our elected officials are working hard for the kids of Oregon,” said OSBA Board President LeeAnn Larsen (Beaverton SD).
