North Clackamas superintendent receives national award
Matt Utterback (center) receives congratulations from then-OSBA Executive Director Betsy Miller-Jones, and Doug Nelson, then-OSBA president, at the OSBA 2016 Annual Convention in November after receiving the Oregon Superintendent of the Year Award.
AASA, the School Superintendents Association, named Oregon’s Matthew Utterback as national superintendent of the year Thursday at its conference in New Orleans.
Utterback is the superintendent for the North Clackamas School District, which has been recognized for innovative approaches to closing achievement gaps. Utterback has led the district for four years.
The honor gives Utterback a national platform from which to share successful strategies and stories in public education. The award includes a $10,000 scholarship in the winner’s name to a student at the high school from which the superintendent graduated.
