A weekend of intensive learning and keynotes from state education leaders wrapped up Sunday as OSBA's annual Summer Board Conference drew to a close in Bend.
Dubbed "Summer Camp for School Boards," the conference attracted board members, board secretaries and school officials from around the state to the Riverhouse Hotel & Convention Center.
Keynote speakers included Nancy Golden, Oregon's chief education officer; Rob Saxton, state deputy superintendent of public instruction; and Ted Wheeler, state treasurer.
Betsy Miller-Jones, OSBA's executive director, and Lori Theros, OSBA Board president and member of the Klamath City Schools board, reminded those in attendance that OSBA relies on its members for its strength. Miller-Jones, along with Greg Moyer of Blue Chalk Media, also introduced a trailer video for "The Promise of Oregon" campaign.
The video showed students from around the state describing their aspirations. Such video content and photos, along with a website, social media efforts and school outreach, will form the foundation for the campaign. Its official debut is set for OSBA's annual convention in Portland in November.
