Tricia Yates joined OSBA in October, 2006. She has thirty years experience in policy and public affairs work, primarily focused on public education and sound government operations. She served as OSBA associate executive director of legislative and public affairs for more than 5 years prior to assuming her role as director of communications. An Oregonian by birth, Tricia worked for 22 years in Wisconsin state government before returning to Oregon.
Her state-level experience includes state education agency management, education policy, public information and outreach, advocacy, legislative administration, budget and policy analysis, and program administration and evaluation. Tricia also has extensive federal education program and advocacy experience. In her various roles, she has worked to serve the 426 school districts in Wisconsin and the 197 school districts in Oregon.
Tricia earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon, having also attended Oregon State University. She was an Eagleton Fellow at Rutgers University, earning her master’s degree in political science.
