Sustainability is the new normal for facilities design, budgeting and managing resources across the country. This conference will walk you through long-term facilities planning, bond elections and other financing, and building strong community support—from start to finish.
OSBA has assembled a team of experts to help you fund and deliver high-performance and high-efficiency schools that support your education mission.
Two workshop tracks
To zero in on the skills you need, two workshops will run concurrently in each session. One track will be focused on various aspects of funding and financing schools – from bond campaigns to calculating return on investment. The other will address facilities planning, elements of green design and sustainability.
Start with a vision for the future
Plan for the long term: Identify your district’s long-term facilities needs to keep pace with student enrollment, instructional needs, the useful life of infrastructure, maintenance concerns and other community priorities.
Look for multiple sources for funding
Finance your facilities plan: Through successful bond campaigns, tax credits, federal stimulus funds, grants and other means, develop a variety of sources to finance your facilities plan.
Develop a comprehensive plan
Sustain your investment: Through community involvement, green design and other means, sustain the investment your community has made in its school facilities.
Need help with costs to attend the Sustainable Schools conference?
Our Sustainable Schools Scholarship Fund can help. A limited number of scholarships are available to cover registration and one night at the conference hotel. For districts sending a team, up to three scholarships will be awarded. OSBA will divide scholarship funds equally between districts sending a team of people and districts sending one person.
Names will be drawn at random to determine who receives scholarships. To apply for a scholarship, send an
e-mail by Jan. 12 to Diane Efseaff, with your name, e-mail and daytime phone number. If you are submitting a team application, include the names of all those in your district who plan to attend the conference.
