Pre-Conference Keynote Addresses:

This is an image of Margaret_Bird2"A MATTER OF TRUST: To Honor or Lose Forever Your School Trust Lands"

Margaret Bird, CLASS Chief Executive Officer, Children's Land Alliance Supporting Schools (CLASS)

Oregon schools were granted lands at statehood and now are poised on a precipice--ready to lose 93,000 acres of the most productive timber lands in the world. This school forest, which grows over 100 million board feet annually, is treated as state lands.  These lands used to provide over $40 million annually to schools and have built a permanent School Fund over $1 billion. The Elliott Forest, belonging to the children of Oregon, has lost millions annually for the last 3 years--the first time that has happened with school trust lands in any state in 127 years. The silence from the education community is heartbreaking.

"Running Great Meetings Using Parliamentary Procedure"

Ann Macfarlane, Professional Registered Parliamentarian, Jurassic Parliament

Learn to debate, discuss, and disagree on issues without crippling arguments. This workshop provides tools for healthy disagreement, giving voice to all board members while maintaining the focus on issues and ideas. Personalities and politics need not dominate your board meetings.

Conference Keynote Address:

This is an image of $name"Breaking the Unwritten Rules"

Mike Weber, Southwestern Consulting

All social interactions take place according to rules, both written and unwritten.  Unwritten rules are the habits, assumptions and attitudes of individuals and groups that define how they will interact with each other.  They are the rules everybody knows about, nobody talks about, but have the power to shape our behavior on a daily basis.

Back this year!

A select-group of OSBA Business Partners will be available throughout the conference to provide expert insight on a variety of topics.
