Spring Regionals: Get excited about the possibilities

16 meetings across the state – beginning March 15

Come and share our excitement. Let us know how we can better serve you!Picture of boy

The Oregon School Boards Association invites you to explore the possibilities for public education in Oregon. Every spring and fall, OSBA staff members bring new information and resources to education leaders like you in a series of regional meetings. This spring, we will cross the state from Astoria to Vale, Hood River to Medford to meet with locally-elected board members, administrators and other leaders in K-12 schools, education service districts and community colleges. These meetings are a great opportunity for you to talk face-to-face with OSBA staff members and receive new information. Join us for an evening of food, friendship, conversation and education!

Using data to improve student achievement

Boards play a critical role in shaping and sharing a district-wide vision for student achievement. With Lighthouse Project research as background, OSBA staff members will show you the power of data-driven decision making. Learn how academic content standards and assessment align, support and inform each other and how regular use of data will help you make decisions, monitor progress and modify direction to improve student achievement. During the presentation, you will also hear about a three-hour workshop available to boards free of charge, thanks to Oregon DATA Project funding from the Oregon Department of Education. You can make a difference for students!

Reporting on the special session

OSBA staff will fill you in on what happened when the State Legislature convened in special session in February. Find out what passed, what failed and what it means for your district this biennium and beyond.

Lobbying Congress

Your elected representatives on OSBA’s board of directors lobbied Congress in January, urging full funding of Title I grants, special education and other mandates. They also encouraged congressional leaders to enact needed changes before reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (formerly No Child Left Behind). Come learn more about federal education issues.
We want to hear from you!
Come to OSBA’s spring regional meetings and get excited about the future of our schools. Cities and dates are listed on the back of this brochure and OSBA will mail you a postcard with evening start time and location.
