HB 2062: Preventing sexual misconduct
August 23 through September 1, 2010
Oregon school districts are on notice: Prevent sexual misconduct by staff and stop violators from getting jobs in other districts.
The law requires boards to adopt a policy on sexual misconduct and requires that all staff and students be trained to recognize and report misconduct. It requires background checks with each applicant’s past three educational employers and prevents employers from agreeing to suppress reports of sexual misconduct or child abuse.
On request, PACE attorneys will come to your site to train district-level staff on the law. Contact Lisa Freiley at lfreiley@osba.org or 800-578-6722.
In addition, there is a handy toolkit.
