Stone Soup & Other Recipes for Bargaining in Tough Times
Every school child knows the story of making stone soup and the lesson that if everyone contributes a little, a rich and tasty soup results. Is there a way to translate this lesson to collective bargaining?
This year, OSBA’s Labor and Employment Conference draws on the wide-ranging expertise of OSBA staff and guest speakers to provide you with the latest and best labor and employment information and help you explore the ingredients for bargaining even in tough economic times.
Choose the topics and experience level that fit your needs
Workshop sessions in three concurrent tracks are geared to all levels of experience with bargaining, labor relations and human resources.
Whether you are new to bargaining and need to learn the fundamentals, a human resources professional with questions about administering family medical leave or an experienced negotiator gearing up for difficult negotiations, this conference provides training to help you.
General-session speakers update you on important issues
Friday morning, Charles Rose, legal advisor to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will provide updates on important issues affecting school funding, teacher assessment and measuring the success of students.
On Saturday morning, Ron Wilson, executive director of the North American Association of Educational Negotiators and OSBA special projects director will talk about evaluating good teachers and measuring student success – and how to approach these subjects in negotiations.
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION
Registration is $175 for the first three OSBA members and $140 for each additional member. For non-members, the fee is $275. Fees include workshop materials, one lunch, one breakfast, refreshment breaks and reception hors d’oeuvres.
A $50 fee is charged for each cancellation received after Feb. 15. No-shows are billed the entire registration fee.
This conference meets the requirement for labor relations and bargaining, a Silver Award level Leadership Institute course. Call OSBA for details.
