Eligibility requirements and term of office

To serve on the OSBA board, you must: 

  • Be an active member of your local board in the region electing you to the OSBA board of directors; 
  • Be a member of a local board that is a dues-paying member of OSBA; and 
  • Be nominated by a local board in the region.

OSBA board members serve two calendar years. Terms on the board are staggered. There is no limit to the number of terms you may serve.

To transition to the new governance system enacted November 2007 half of the board members elected in fall 2008 will serve regular two-year terms and half will serve three-year terms to establish a pattern of alternating terms. Board members elected to odd-numbered positions will serve two-year terms, Jan. 1, 2009-Dec. 31, 2010; members elected to even-numbered positions will serve three-year terms, Jan. 1, 2009-Dec. 31, 2011. Thereafter all board members will serve two calendar years.
